A Trip To The Tower

Finally, after a series of storms that kept the top of Winnemucca Mtn unaccessible, We had the chance to get up there to reset and check on various pieces of equipment.

All went well up the mtn but the last 100 yards or so was thick deep snow, had to hike it.

The views of Winnemucca were awesome!

Another Winnemucca Wine Walk!!!!

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Winnemucca when the Leprechauns came!

The Pot O Gold Wine Walk had an amazing turn out! As we went through series after series of glasses with the most popular (and first to disappear) being the mini beer taster.

Several participants came dressed to drink! Spirits where definitely high for the St Patricks holiday.

Thank You Reno!

November 10th 2014.
That was the first day I did mornings with Jim McClain on Reno’s Classic Rocker, 105.7 KOZZ. Since then I have had many opportunities to enjoy Reno, Tahoe, Sparks, Carson City and so on. I have met the people of Northern Nevada and have found them unique and awesome in several ways. The mountains and trails beckon me daily as I seek out new peaks to climb and overcome. The rivers, lakes and reservoirs have given me hours of amazing kayaking. So now, many broadcasting hours later and a reinvention of myself on the ESPN affiliate have led to an immeasurable growth. I have learned so much and have had the opportunity to transform quickly. Unfortunately the station’s management found out I had started a broadcasting company and purchased two radio stations in another market. They frown on that. So now I bid a good bye to this city, but only for a short while. I will be back with a new program this summer and we will be back in Reno again.
Biggest Little City you have taken a piece of my heart!
Thank you!

Educate, Entertain & Enlighten – What Does It Mean?

Educate, entertain and enlighten is our mantra at Nomadic Broadcasting.

Our job as broadcasters first and foremost is to educate and inform our listeners as to what is going on in and around the world we live in. This is the first and foremost mission of radio, to be that information beacon when you have questions about what is happening right now.

Entertainment is our other goal, through our personalities and music formats we bring our listeners a friend at work, at home or around town. We provide the companion to your day.

We try to enlighten not only our listeners, but also ourselves on a daily basis through positive reinforcement and focusing on goals. We provide the audience with an uplifting outlook without the clutter. We demonstrate acceptance through our inclusive interactive radio topics and discussions to our community projects and Pay It Forward Events.

The Journey From Employee To Owner

It’s a common and longstanding dream among radio folks — “Hey, wouldn’t it be awesome to someday own a radio station and not have to answer to anyone except myself?” For Jace Edwards, that dream has now become reality — Edwards, who had been working for Lotus Radio Reno in multiple roles (mornings on Classic Rock KOZZ, a sports talk show for ESPN affiliate KUUB and fill-in on Active Rock KDOT), is proud to shout from the rooftops that he is now the proud owner/operator of Nomadic Broadcasting LLC, which just purchased 50,000-watt KHYX (Mix 102.7) and repeater K232BK (Big Country 94.3), both located in scenic Winnemucca, Nevada, both from Ruby Radio. Edwards plans to officially assume control this summer, pending FCC approval.
Edwards had been with Lotus since October of 2014. Prior to that he spent four years in Louisiana programming KKGB (Rock 101)/Lake Charles, LA and the late KRDJ (Rock 93.7)/Lafayette, LA. His notable former gigs include mornings on KCLB/Palm Springs, nights on KCAL/Riverside, nights on KEDG/Las Vegas and nights on KKND (106.7 The End)/New Orleans.
Shortly after he left the Lotus building, Edwards posted on Facebook, “I’m glad for my time on 105.7 KOZZ Reno’s Classic Rock and ESPN Radio 94.5 FM; I worked with some amazing people and learned a lot! But remember, never say to someone, ‘If you don’t like it, you can quit’ … because they may just go and buy a radio station.”
